Ballast (view service)

The Ballast display service contains information that is important for the planning of society’s ballast supply. The information offers a geological basis for both authorities in their work on planning material supply and licensing of quarries as well as for the ballast industry’s planning for new quarries. The service contains information about mountains of different qualities with regard to road, concrete and rail. Technical analyses and mica concentrations are reported as point information. Natural gravel deposits are reported partly in terms of material composition and partly with classification of nature/geoscience value. The service also contains information on occurrences of moraine and authorised quarries.
