Since the Chernobyl accident in 1986, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has sampled drinking water and measured levels of radioactive substances, mainly Cs-137. In the current programme, drinking water is sampled from 6 water works twice a year, which is measured for caesium-137, strontium-90, tritium (H-3), total-alpha, total-beta and radium-226. Concentrations in drinking water are also reported to the EU in accordance with the Euratom Treaty. Data from these sampling stations from 2001 are available on the website of the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The map shows the geographical location of the sampling stations (waterworks).
