Global radiation for the year of the normal period 1961-1990. The analysis is based on averages from a number of observation sites. The map is published in Sweden’s National Atlas Climate, lakes and streams. The total amount of solar radiation that hits a horizontal (ground) surface is called global radiation. Global radiation is thus the sum of radiation directly from the sun and diffuse radiation from the rest of the sky, i.e. solar radiation scattered by the molecules and particles of the atmosphere or reflected by clouds.
