The vulnerability of groundwater is based on existing data from SGU’s soil species maps, modelled soil depths, groundwater reservoirs and groundwater bodies identified in water management. The vulnerability map is in principle an assessment based on soil type, groundwater bodies and groundwater reservoirs in rock and soil. The vulnerability is presented in two sets of data, one complete with all 7 vulnerability classes and a selection of the three classes with the highest vulnerability. The vulnerability map has been generalised to cover areas larger than about 1 ha.
The accuracy of the underlying materials is of varying quality and in order to make a more comprehensive assessment of the vulnerability of a particular site, a detailed examination must be carried out on the spot. The map shall only be used together with other data for planning measures for the protection of groundwater in the event of accidents or for urban planning from a groundwater perspective.
