The railway tracks in Sweden usually have a slope that is less than 10 per million in order to be able to drive heavy freight trains. Routes where only passenger services are operated may have a higher slope. The length of a track part with an even slope shall be at least 20 m. See further reference [101].
Slope is included as a track element in the description of track geometry and is part of the profile geometry, which also includes vertical curves. The track geometry represents the projected geometry and refers to the track center.
The data product contains the gradient given in promille, the length of the track part that has the current slope and the method used for the data capture. When the geometry has the Origin = G (Geodetic) attribute, data is coordinated and comes from the GAD system or is transferred from the GEOSECMA system. The data product then has a high quality and can be used for all types of applications.
The data product has stretch distribution and connects to the network with reference to the nearest previous node and nearest previous kilometre board with distance in metres to both the starting and end positions of the slope (=key points) in the direction of the track link.
