LstW value area forest land (GI)

The value areas for forest land describe landscape sections in Dalarna County with a greater prevalence of particularly high nature values. Within the value areas is achieved through formal protection and voluntary provisions, higher shares of forest areas with ecological function that are dedicated to the purposes of nature conservation than in the county as a whole. The value areas are used by the County Administrative Board of Dalarna and the Swedish Forest Agency for the prioritisation of conservation efforts as area protection and measures for endangered species. They can also be used in forestry as a basis for planning nature conservation efforts and in municipal planning. The limits are not quality assured, i.e. whether an object is within or outside the value area is determined in each individual case.
