Marine sediment sample

The data set Marine sediment samples contain information on sediment samples relating to the nature of soil species and for a small number also chemical content — both of elements and of persistent organic environmental toxins (environmental chemical sediment database). The observations were made in conjunction with SGU’s regular marine geological survey. SGU is responsible for exploring and mapping the bottom conditions within the Swedish territorial sea and the Swedish economic zone (EEZ). The information produced is used, for example, for planning and deciding on the protection or use of the seabed, for the design of marine civil engineering works and for environmental monitoring. It also provides an important basis for biological inventories and the Swedish Armed Forces.
