Marine sediment sample (view service)

The Marina sediment samples display service contains information on sediment samples with regard to soil species and, for selected sites, the content of the surface sediments of selected elements, inorganic compounds and organic environmental pollutants. The observations are made in connection with SGU’s regular marine geological survey or in the case of assignments where the client has allowed the publication of data. SGU is responsible for exploring and mapping the bottom conditions within the Swedish territorial sea and the Swedish economic zone (EEZ). The information produced is used, for example, for planning and deciding on the protection or use of the seabed, for the design of marine civil engineering works and for environmental monitoring. It also provides an important basis for biological inventories and the Swedish Armed Forces.
