SE.HY Sub-basins (SVAR2022): Display service

This product consists of polygons representing river basins on land and in sea. The catchment areas are generated for all water bodies, monitoring stations in SMHI's basic network and an additional selection of monitoring stations and dams that are important for the hydrological model. The generation is based on a height model with 10 m resolution. The Norwegian and Finnish river basins are drawn from the Norwegian Reed and Energy Directorate (NVE) and the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) and are to some extent merged to better harmonise with the Swedish ones. At the border, foreign river basins are geometrically adjusted according to the Swedish river basins. All river basins are part of the logical network that connects river basins to each other according to how the water flows in nature. The product sub-basins, based on version SVAR 2022:1.1, contain: 26 340 polygons which represents Swedish and parts of Norwegian and Finnish sub-basins. The download service ATOM contains only sub-basins that flow to or are located within Sweden.
