Dataset description

A lake is a more or less permanently larger accumulation of water without significant current velocity in a sink in the earth’s surface. A lake usually has an outlet, but there are lakes with more outlets and those that have no outlet. Not all lakes in the maritime register are represented as water surfaces. A watercourse of sufficient size is represented by polygon instead of line only. The product, based on version SVAR 2016:6, contains 42 178 polygons representing lake and watercourse surfaces.
