2022-2031 scenarios for the education system

How many learners and students will the individual levels of the Swiss education system count over the next ten years and how many degrees will be awarded in each field of education? What factors influence the numbers of different courses of education and how will they develop? What are the consequences of demographic dynamics and the observed structural trends? This publication attempts to answer these important questions for the planning of the education system by means of a detailed analysis of the complex processes that determine entry into compulsory school, upper secondary education and higher education. Based on the latest trends in population development, a detailed modeling of learner and student flows through the education system and a number of specific hypotheses, it presents three scenarios for the coming decade.
