In 2020, the BFS’s Crime and Criminal Law Section (CRIME) revised the standard tables on relapses as part of its modernisation process. This publication presents the results of this revision and the associated challenges. First, the relapse is conceptually defined. A second part explains how the relapses are measured. The new evaluations of the SFS are then described in a third part. Finally, a fundamental issue of recidivism is addressed, namely the link between the sentence pronounced in the judgment and the criminal record.
