Dataset description
The dataset contains a directory of selected geotopes in the canton of Bern. Geotopes are spatially limited parts of the geosphere of particular geological, geomorphological or geoecological significance. They meet the criteria of rarity, conservation status/originality/wholeness, scientific and historical significance as well as visibility/recognizability/didactic quality and are selected according to the ‘Arche Noah principle’. In addition, attention was paid to ensuring technical and spatial diversity in the selection process. The objects can be divided into eight departments and into the three regions of Jura, Mittelland and Alps.
