Dry meadows and pastures owe their existence to agriculture. They are the result of centuries of extensive exploitation and traditional agriculture. Since the end of the 19th century, dry meadows and pastures have declined by almost 90 %. At the same time, the species they have been home to have been under increasing pressure: almost 40 % of all plant species and 50 % of all animal species that depend on dry land are listed on the national red lists. Inventoried objects are classified according to their importance (national, regional, local) in accordance with the provisions of section 10 of the Nature and Landscape Protection Act (RCJU 451).
