In 1975, the Department of Nature Conservation initiated the typing, inventory and classification of the earth-historical forms and geological surveys in the canton of Zurich, analogous to the comprehensive surveys of selected animal and plant species or plant societies. She was able to rely on the preparatory work of the “Geological Map of the Canton of Zurich” foundation, which contributed her expertise in project development. In this way, such a geological inventory was developed for the first time under the direction of Prof. Dr. René Hantke (Geological Institute ETHZ), Dr. Nazorio Pavoni (Institute of Geophysics ETHZ), Walter Kyburz, dipl. Geologist (Geographical Institute UNIZ), Fritz Hirt, lic.phil. (ARV/BD Kt. ZH) in 1975/76. In 1980 Gertrud Schwarz-Oberholzer was entrusted with the final editorial. In 2004, the analogous plans were digitised by Ernst Basler + Partner, Zollikon, on behalf of the Department of Nature Conservation, whereby the excellent knowledge of Gertrud Schwarz-Oberholzer could once again be used for planning interpretation questions. The inventory consists of flatly recorded (polygons) object perimeters as well as the also flatly mapped object types within these perimeters. The objects are also rated as cantonal, regional, local. In addition to the attributes included in the spatial data, the object descriptions of the inventory describe the protection status as well as information on protective measures. Photos also illustrate many of the objects described. The texts with photos can be viewed in the Nature Conservation Documentation of the Department of Nature Conservation. The over-municipal geological objects were included in the inventory of the over-municipal nature and landscape conservation objects (Inventar80) in 1980.
