The addresses from the 'Information Schweiz’ (Information Switzerland) directory, from the 'Repertorium der handschriftlichen Nachlässe in den Bibliotheken und Archiven der Schweiz’ (Union catalogue of archival collections held in Swiss libraries and archives) and interlibrary items on loan have been collated into a comprehensive directory of Swiss heritage institutions in ISplus. ISplus is the database of ISIL Centre Switzerland and is managed by the Swiss National Library (NL).
The online version of ISplus at HelveticArchives also includes the archival collections reported by these institutions. The data is based on the printed book edition of the 'Repertorium der handschriftlichen Nachlässe’ (Union catalogue of archival collections) of 1992. Most archives, libraries and museums have since acquired new archives. Some institutions have continued to report their new additions and they are updated to 2018. Not every institution has done this systematically, so the archival collection database has become heterogeneous and/or incomplete. That is why the catalogue will not be updated and left instead at its 2018 status. In order to acquire the most complete and up-to-date overview possible of the archival collections, we recommend consulting the websites and any inventories listed there by specific institutions. Links to institutions are provided in ISplus at HelveticArchives.
