The data set contains a selection of old views of the city of Zurich from 1870 to 1900 with a focus on urban development.
The photographs come from the architectural history archive of the City of Zurich (BAZ). These are raw scans of the original prints, supplemented with a scan of the metadata per image.
The images are in the public domain because their copyright protection period (70 years after the death of the author) has expired.
Since November 2017, more than 107'000 photographs of the BAR have been available online and in an open license on the [platform e-Pics](http://baz.e-pics.ethz.ch/) of the ETH Library.
