The Regional Forest Plans (RWP) aim to safeguard public interests in the forest, to ensure coordination with spatial planning and to define the development intentions for the forest area. The forest function map, which is part of the RWP, shows areas on which, according to regional forest planning, individual or several forest accidents are prioritised in a binding manner. Forest functions include those tasks to be performed by the forest. The spatial representation in the forest function map is limited to the classical forest functions enshrined in the legal bases of wood production, biodiversity, protection from natural hazards as well as leisure and recreation. Detailed information on the regulatory impact of the map entries can be found in the reports of the respective region. A regional forest plan (RWP) is developed per forest department. There is currently an additional perimeter Seeland-Biel/Bienne, which will be integrated into the perimeter of the Mittelland Forest Department in the future.
