The rock cover map was created in 2017 as part of the construction ground class map creation and is based on the rock isohyps and the terrain surface model. It was started in 2018 at the GIS Schaffhausen. The rock cover map indicates the distance between the rock and the earth’s surface and thus the thickness of the so-called loose rocks, which are located above the rock base. The thickness is represented as surfaces (polygons) and divided into 5 classes: up to 1 m, > 1-5 m, > 5-20 m, > 20-50 m and > 50 m.
