Le réseau de stations de mesures pour la qualité des eaux de surface (incluant les eaux de baignade du lac) comporte environ 200 stations réparties sur l'ensemble du territoire genevois, ainsi qu'en France voisine. La qualité des eaux y est mesurée selon des périodicités variables, pour les groupes de paramètres suivants: état sanitaire, macrofaune benthique, algues diatomées et physico-chimie.
