Dataset description

The archive of the Canton of Jura (Archives cantonales jurassiennes ArCJ), supported by Wikimedia CH, have uploaded their collection of works by the Swiss photographer Eugène Cattin (1866-1947) to Wikimedia Commons. Cattin was a mail man, woodworker and merchant who took photographs of everyday situations in his free time between 1892 and 1932. Among other things he photographed the local people and buildings in rural Jura. Today the 3100 remaining photos of Cattin are important documents from this period when the Canton of Jura belonged to the French-speaking part of the Canton of Bern.
