Dataset description

This layer contains the high stem fruit trees of the canton of Jura. The survey was carried out by the arboriculture station of the Interjurassienne Rural Foundation, during the growing season 2005 & 2006. The trees surveyed are essentially those found in agricultural areas. The trees in the built perimeter were found if the orchard was of particular interest (large number of fruit trees, remarkable trees, orchard opening onto the finishing). For each tree, the data collected were as follows: — Number of the plot — Species of the tree — Status of the tree ° young ° in production ° senescent ° disappeared Definition of high swab orchard & tall stem trees: The Romand Agricultural Vulgarisation Service in its brochure: “High swab verger”, (1998), gives the high swab orchard the following definition: “High swab orchard is a surface planted with fruit trees (core or seed fruit, walnuts). The trees are high swabs (tree of more than 1.6 m or 1.2 m in height for stone fruits) or half swabs (from 80 cm)”. The types of fruit trees most commonly planted in Jura canton are apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh), pear trees (Pyrus Communis L.), plum trees (Prunus domestica L.), cherry trees (Prunus avium L.), walnuts (Juglans regia L.) and cognassiers (Cydonia oblonga Mill.). Densities range from 20 to more than 150 trees per hectare.
