The adopted [Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Minerals and Waste Local Plan (2021)](https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/business/planning-and-development/planning-policy/adopted-minerals-and-waste-plan) makes allocations for mineral extraction and waste management development. This Plan also allocates Consultation Areas for allocated and existing mineral and waste management developments which require the Cambridgeshire district councils to consult the County Council on planning applications for development which fall within these Areas. Safeguarding Areas are also allocated for Water Recycling Areas (WRAs) and Transport Infrastructure Areas (TIAs) e.g. railheads, which also trigger consultation between district councils(s) and the County Council, and policies which seek to prevent these operations being prejudiced.
