Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) collect Carbon (CO2) Emissions figures nationally with a 2 year time delay. These figures are published on an annual basis at Local Authority level. This dataset contains Calderdale Carbon Emissions from 2005 to 2014 broken down by industrial and commercial, residential (including waste, housing and heating) and transport. Calderdale has a target to reduce the Total CO2 levels and Tonnes of CO2 per capita by 40% from 2005 to 2020. The 40% target is derived from UK government carbon reduction commitments set out under the Climate Change Act 2008 (the result of an EU directive and our assent of the Kyoto Protocol). The targets have in turn been adopted into an overall local strategy-the Calderdale Energy Future strategy. For further information see Calderdale's energy future The two Trajectory columns show progress to date and what reductions need to be achieved year on year to achieve this target.
