Index of Place Names Locator (July 2016) BETA

<p>This web mapping application enables you to locate a place name from the Index of Place Names in Great Britain (IPN) as at July 2016, and display it on a base map together with a full list of its attributes. Featuring over 87,000 entries, the IPN lists the names of localities and administrative areas throughout England, Scotland and Wales. </p><p>Known Issues:</p><p>Please note that the IPN currently does not hold a grid reference for the names of counties, historic counties, lieutenancy counties, or regions. This application will therefore locate the names of these areas to the National Grid origin point, south west of the Isles of Scilly. This issue will be addressed in the next release of the IPN.</p>
