Species, biotope and physical point data, with accompanying information and metadata for marine surveys and data collection activities conducted within the Celtic and Irish Seas and NE Atlantic Ocean around Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, collated and stored on the Marine Recorder database hosted and maintained by the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording (CEDaR), National Museums Northern Ireland.
The Marine Recorder database holds approx. 500,000 species occurrence records from a range of data providers: DAERA Marine and Fisheries Division, Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Loughs Agency, National Museums Northern Ireland, CEDaR, Queens University Belfast, Ulster University, Seasearch Northern Ireland, Ulster Wildlife, Coast Watch and amateur marine recorders.
The complete database is submitted to JNCC biannually and merged into the Marine Recorder UK Snapshot for national reporting as well as monthly to the NBN Atlas (species point data only).
