Under Section 38 of the Localism Act 2011 Councils are encouraged to produce Pay Policy Statements which include their policy on pay dispersion, which is the relationship between remuneration of chief officers and the remuneration of other staff. This is called the Pay Multiple.
As part of our on-going commitment to increase openness and transparency we publish details of our Pay Multiple in our Pay Policy Statement (please refer to Page 7, para.36).
The Pay Multiple is defined as the ratio between the highest paid taxable earnings for the given year, at a specified point in time (including base salary, variable pay, bonuses, allowances and the cash value of any benefits-in-kind) and the median earnings figure of the whole of our authority's workforce.
