Public rights of way provide a legally defined network of paths that allows any member of the public travel across land. The network consists of Footpaths, Bridleways, Restricted Byways. Within this dataset there are 412 kilometres of public rights of way, of which over 100 kilometres are in the North York Moors National Park. The responsibility for managing and maintaining the public rights of way network is shared between Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and the North York Moors National Park Authority.
