The Mayor is committed to measuring social integration in London. Providing evidence-based analysis of the state of social integration will allow him to shine a light on the whole city.
Accompanying the Social Integration Strategy published in March 2018, the Mayor published a set of measures tracking social integration in London. These measures were selected from existing high-quality datasets, such as large-scale central government surveys, research council surveys, and administrative data.
City Hall picked these 18 measures to cover the three main parts of social integration (relationships, participation and equality), choosing measures which are robust over time.
The social integration measures were updated in June 2019, following the publication of the headline findings of the Survey of Londoners. The Survey of Londoners has provided much needed extra evidence on the state of social integration in London. Consequently, the initial list of 18 measures has been revised and expanded on, so that there are now 30 measures of social integration in London.
