Inspire (HB) — Marine Strategy Framework Directive modelled habitat types (WFS)

Map layer for the distribution of the main types of seabed habitats in accordance with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, created as a result of the work “Modernisation of map data of Estonian marine areas” (Estonian Marine Institute, 2018). In Estonia, according to the MSRD (EU Commission Decision 2017/848), seabed habitats have not yet been mapped. Therefore, modelling has been used to create this layer, based on available national environmental monitoring and monitoring results of relevant projects. As of 2017, the inventories covered approximately one third of Estonia’s entire marine area, so when using the data, it has to be remembered that it is a modelled distribution layer.
