Modelled habitat types of the Estonian Marine Strategy Framework Directive (EELIS)

A mapping layer for the distribution of key types of seabed habitats in accordance with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. In Estonia, no seabed habitats had been mapped prior to 2017 under the MSFD (EU Commission Decision 2017/848). Therefore, modelling has been used to create this layer, based on the available monitoring results of national environmental monitoring and relevant projects. As of 2017, approximately one third of Estonia’s total marine area was covered by inventories, so when using the data, it must be remembered that this is a modeled distribution layer.
