Biotop Stockholm classification system has been based on the City of Stockholm’s existing biotopic database (Environmental Management, 2012). To suit a modern and cost-effective Mapping Method and the increased focus on the urban environment, the system has been modified and further developed. The method is still under construction, which is why its classification system and other hearing documentation are a living document. Biotop Stockholm contains two hierarchical levels, (main classes and biotopes), as well as a number of descriptive additional attributes that in different ways clarify the contents and properties of the database.
