Collection of waste (Kolada)

Number of kilograms of household waste collected per adjusted population in Umeå municipality. Household waste includes catering and residual waste (previously referred to as ‘vessel and sack waste’), coarse waste including garden waste, hazardous waste, comparable waste from shops, offices, industries and restaurants, as well as the part of household waste covered by producer responsibility (packaging, newspapers, electrical waste, batteries, etc.), even if it does not fall under municipal cleaning responsibility. The population is adjusted to take into account holiday homes, guest nights and commuting. In pronounced holiday homes or municipalities with extensive tourist activity, household waste is generated significantly more than is generated by permanent residents. Even in municipalities with large commuting surpluses, a lot of household waste is generated through workplaces. By using an adjusted number of inhabitants, the amount of waste per person is reflected more accurately for their own municipality, which facilitates comparisons with other municipalities. The data set is taken from KoladaI Kolada, everyone can search for information about the municipality of Umeå. A new request for data is made against Kolada once a month.
