The Consumer Agency annually calculates some of the most common household costs that together account for about one third of the total household costs.
The calculations cover both individual and household common costs and are based on a basic need for goods and services needed to cope with everyday life, regardless of household income.
The estimated monthly costs of food purchases are shown here. The calculations are broken down by meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and golden edge. The golden edge refers, for example, to coffee or candy for the weekend and snacks for the Friday cozy. The calculations are broken down by age and gender. The calculations are based on the Swedish Consumer Agency’s food bill, which is a four-week nutritional and climate-calculated food bill that covers the daily need for energy and nutrition for each age group.
