Rail networks with basic characteristics are a processed rail data product, which means that it is generated from a number of pre-existing data products. The type of processing is a ‘homogenisation’. The aim of homogenisation is to create distributions (stretches) that are homogeneous in terms of two or more attributes from different data products (also known as phenomenon types).
