Dataset description
The GIS grid serves for the coordinate transformation between the national Austrian system of national surveying MGI and the European reference system ETRS89 in the position. It is based on the NTv2 (National Transformation Version 2) grid-based transformation method developed and defined in Canada, whose format and method has now become a standard in the GIS field.
For Austria, the BEV provides two versions of the transformation grid. They differ both in spatial resolution and in the underlying basic data.
The 2021 GIS grid describes the differences between coordinates in the systems MGI (EPSG:4312) and ETRS89 (EPSG:4258) in geographical length and width in the form of a regular grid with a resolution of 150 m.
