Biotope mapping Gesäuse - Mapping area Kummer

The study area (UG) was mapped in late summer 2011. It includes the north-exposed steep drops of the Zinödl below the Wolfbauernhochalm (=Zinödlalm) as well as the Kummerwald and extends from the Kummerparkplatz on the Enns in the west to the Hochstegmauer in the east. In the north, the Enns forms the border. The southern border represents the steep walls below the Wolfbauernhochalm. The length in the north-south direction varies between 470 m in the east and 800 m in the central area, the width (northeast/southwest) is about 2.2 km. The orographically lowest point lies in other Enns in the extreme northeast of the UG at 520 m, the highest point on the northern slopes of the Zinödl at 1,400 m. Thus, the centre of gravity of the UG lies in the montane elevation, with the subdivisions in low- and medium-montane elevation (600-800 m or 800-1,200 m) and in a few places just reaches the high-montane (1,200-1,450 m) elevation (cf. KILIAN et al. 1994).
