Bei diesem Projekt wird die Artenvielfalt von Dungkäfern und Zikaden auf den Weideflächen entlang der Großglockner Hochalpenstraße auf einem Höhengradienten von 1600m bis 2400m untersucht. Dadurch können nicht nur neue Daten zu diesen, im alpinen Bereich sehr wenig untersuchten Artengruppen, gesammelt, sondern auch Rückschlüsse auf die ökologische Integrität der Weideflächen gezogen werden, da Dungkäfer als Destruenten wichtige Funktionen in Weidesystemen übernehmen, und Zikaden durch ihre enge Bindung an spezifische Futterpflanzen wertvolle Bioindikatoren für den Zustand von Grünlandlebensräumen sind. Zusätzlich werden Weideflächen und Bergmähder hinsichtlich ihrer Zikaden-Diversität verglichen und der Einfluss von Entwurmungsmitteln bei den Weidetieren auf die Dungkäfer untersucht.
