Dataset description

The evaluation of bycatches from soil trap studies for the inventory of arachnid and insect fauna led to the documentation of 5 species of shrews in the Gesäuse National Park. A total of 379 individuals were recorded at 118 sites. With 191 animals, the dwarf shrew was the most common species, followed by the forest shrew with 115 animals. The Alpine shrew, which Austria is particularly responsible for preserving, was reproduced at 36 locations. Remarkable is a sympathetic and syntopic occurrence of swamp and water shrew on the Johnsbach as well as on the waterfall path.
