Dataset description

The 2011 and 2021 register censuses and the annual coordinated employment statistics are full surveys on characteristics of the Austrian resident population as of 31 October, which are carried out by means of the evaluation of administrative and register data. The content concept is based on the EU regulation for population and housing censuses. The 1991 and 2001 censuses are complete questionnaire surveys for the reference dates 15.05.1991 and 15.05.2001 respectively. The content concept is based on the Census Act 1980 and the census recommendations of the Conference of European Statisticians (Census Round 1990 and 2000 respectively). The 2001 census was also based on the EU guidelines for the Community programme of population and housing censuses. Territorial status of the most recent survey year.
