ECOICOP (European Classification of Individual Consumption Purposes) Description: ECOICOP is the European version of UN-COICOP. In order to allow greater detail, another hierarchical level was introduced, that of the subclass. Up to the level of 4 digits, however, COICOP and ECOICOP are completely identical. COICOP is the classification of the uses of individual consumption and is part of the system of national accounts. The functional classifications are mainly used to represent certain (expenditure) flows according to the associated purpose. However, they are not only important for national accounts, COICOP also applies to international economic comparisons, the consumer price index and household budget surveys. Relation to other classifications: CPC, COICOP, COPNI, COFOG
