Air Quality Measurements in Austria 2021 - Annual Report

The annual report documents the results of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency for the year 2021. The measurement results show: For pollutants NO2, PM10 and PM2.5, the second lowest level (after 2020) was measured so far. Ozone pollution was below the level of recent years. The IG-L limit value for the annual average value for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded at seven measuring points, the sum of the limit value and the margin of tolerance was complied with for the first time. In the case of benzo(a)pyrene, PM10, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (including lead), isolated exceedances were measured in accordance with IG-L. The target values for ozone have been exceeded in large parts of Austria. The IG-L limit and target values for PM2.5, carbon monoxide, heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2021.
