Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2013

The annual report 2013 is based on the measurements of the offices of the provincial governments and the Federal Environment Agency and gives an overview of the air quality situation in Austria. In 2013, numerous exceedances of the limit and target values of the Immission Control Act-Air for particulate matter (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) as well as for ozone were registered, occasionally also for nitrogen oxides, benzo(a)pyrene and dust precipitation. The limits and targets for sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, PM2.5, lead, arsenic, cadmium and nickel in PM10 and for benzene were met. Limit value exceedances for NO2 occurred mainly on busy roads, for particulate matter especially in Styria and Vienna. For almost all pollutants, 2013, compared to previous years, had a significantly below-average load, mainly thanks to the warm and rainy weather in winter.
