Viele Rohstoffe für elektrisch betriebene Fahrzeuge sind begrenzt und schwer verfügbar. Zudem werden sie oft unter sozial und ökologisch kritischen Bedingungen gewonnen. Nachnutzung und Recycling von E-Fahrzeug-Batterien bieten die Chance, die Nachfrage nach Primärrohstoffen deutlich zu reduzieren und so ihre Ressourceneffizienz zu steigern. Die Studie liefert einen Überblick über technische Potentiale, Hürden und rechtliche Vorgaben dafür. Analysiert werden Einsatzmöglichkeiten für gebrauchte Batterien als stationärer Energiespeicher, für elektrische Infrastruktur oder mobile Anwendungen, vom Lkw bis hin zum Hausroboter. Beim Batterierecycling zeigt sich, dass bis zu 99 % der Rohstoffe und Bestandteile wiederverwertet werden können. Beide Optionen tragen dazu bei, Ressourcen für den Ausbau der Elektromobilität zu schonen und nachhaltig zu nutzen.
