Circular construction economy.

For the successful implementation of a circular economy in the construction industry, the foundations for a comprehensive white paper concept were developed. On the basis of interviews with relevant stakeholders, the most important drivers and hurdles were identified and good practice examples were collected. A central element is integral planning, which sets the course for later dismantling with the choice of building materials. Overall life cycle assessment, certification systems and building information modelling support decision-making. Resource conservation can be achieved by extending the service life and repurposing existing buildings as well as by efficient material flow management. The challenge is to create the right conditions to accelerate implementation in practice.
