EUNIS Biotope Types of Austria 2018

As part of the project ‘Strategic framework for prioritising ecosystem restoration at national and subnational level’, the map of Austria’s biotope types (Peterseil 2013) was updated and expanded thematically by including additional data sources. In the above-mentioned project, the map serves, among other things, as a spatial basis for the creation of a state map in which the degree of degradation of ecosystems or landscapes is shown. Since the biotope mappings of the federal states are selective and not comprehensive mappings or biotope mapping data are not available for all federal states, it was necessary to integrate numerous other data bases. The EUNIS classification (Davies et al. 2004) is used. All input data were referenced to this effect. Where possible, reference was made to EUNIS level 3. Map as grid tiff, 10m resolution available.
