Status report waste incineration.

The status report provides an overview of waste incineration plants in Austria. On the basis of data and information from the operating companies, the technological structure of the plants is described and environmentally relevant data such as air and water emissions are presented. The status report also highlights the main innovations in the 2019 EU document ‘Conclusions on Best Available Techniques for Waste Incineration’. Other chapters discuss how waste incineration can contribute to the circular economy and climate neutrality. Important aspects are the recovery of raw materials, the function as a pollutant sink in the cycle, or the provision of district heating and cooling, which can reduce CO2 emissions.
