Register of Protected Areas - Special Water Protection Areas

Downloaded from NSDI Geoportal - http://geoportal.nipp.hr/hr Protected areas - areas of special water protection are those areas where, in order to protect water and the aquatic environment, additional protection measures need to be implemented, determined on the basis of the Water Act (OG 153/09, 63/11, 130/11, 56/13, 14/14) and special regulations. Protected areas - Special water protection areas include: A - areas for the protection of water intended for human consumption (surface water protection areas, groundwater protection areas, source sanitary protection zones, areas intended for the abstraction of water for human consumption); B - areas suitable for the protection of economically significant aquatic organisms (water areas suitable for the life of freshwater fish, areas of water suitable for the life and growth of bivalve molluscs), C - bathing and recreation areas (in inland surface waters - bathing areas, at sea - sea beaches), D - areas subject to eutrophication and nitrate vulnerable zones (eutrophic zones, catchment of vulnerable zones, nitrate vulnerable zones of agricultural origin); E - areas intended for the protection of habitats or species where maintaining or improving the status of waters is an essential element of their protection in accordance with the Water Act and/or nature protection regulations (Natura 2000 ecological network, protected natural values, protected nature areas), F - areas of poor water exchange in coastal waters, the sensitivity of which is assessed in relation to urban wastewater discharges. According to the Water Act of Croatian Waters, the Register of Protected Areas - Special Water Protection Areas has been prepared and regularly renewed and supplemented in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the Act.
