Registar proizvođača vozila i dijelova vozila. Niz međunarodnih norma o VIN oznaci (Vehicle Identification Number) i njihova primjena osigurava jedinstveni sustav označavanja svih cestovnih vozila proizvedenih diljem svijeta. VIN oznaka (jedinstveni broj za označavanje vozila) mora biti takav da nedvojbeno identificira svako vozilo proizvedeno u svijetu te ne smiju postojati dvije identične VIN oznake na različitim vozilima proizvedenima na svijetu u razdoblju kraćem od 30 godina. U svrhu osiguranja takvog označavanja vozila, kao dio VIN oznake uvedena je WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier) oznaka za svakog proizvođača na svijetu i ta oznaka ugrađuje se kao sastavni dio VIN oznake na točno određena mjesta unutar VIN oznake, što omogućuje da se iz VIN oznake izravno može očitati država i proizvođač vozila.
