Weather model forecasts

Weather model forecast data is derived from several forecast models adapted for Estonia: the weather model HARMONIE, the marine model NEMO and the wave model SWAN. Harmonie is a non-hydrostatic convection-permitting numerical weather forecast (NWP) ) used at a horizontal resolution of 2.5 km. The model calculations are carried out on the calculation resources of ECMWF and the data are forwarded to the Environmental Agency at a specific interval. NEMO (Nucleus for European Modeling of the Ocean) is a system of marine dynamics models developed as a result of international cooperation, which includes several sub-models, allowing them to be used in many marine research and forecast applications. SWAN (Simulating WAves Nearshore) is a third generation wave model that calculates random short brush wind waves in coastal and inland waters.
